For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
If someone asked you what the gospel is, what will you say? Many people define the Gospel thus: “God sent Jesus to die for our sins, and He raised him up on the third day.” To this, most lay men will respond: “How is that good news to me?”
You see, the good news isn’t exactly what Jesus did, but what it brought us in particular, namely: Eternal Life.
Our opening scripture says “…whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
Stop and think about it for a moment- if you are a child of God, you will NEVER die! Yes, you may give up your current body, but only to receive a celestial one that will never decay.
One billion years and more, after you leave this earth, you will still exist. All your friends and family who are in the Lord will still be with you. Now that’s good news!
Our Master assures us of this! At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus spoke to Martha with the following words.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
The question now is Do you believe? If yes, eternal life and rejoicing is yours in Him.
Elsewhere, He says: “I assure you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death – ever!” John 8:51.
How blessed we are to believe in Jesus. Halleluyah!
Lord, I thank You for the hope of eternal life in You. I believe in it. I expect it. I rejoice in it! Glory to God!
