JOY UNSPEAKABLE

“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory”
1 Peter 1:8

The true source of joy for a believer is not the money or connections he has. His joy rests in the fact that he has a hope that is unshakable.

Today’s text points to the true hope of a Christian. We have not seen Jesus physically yet we rejoice at who He is to us, what He has done in us and for us.

We have not seen Him physically yet we rejoice at the hope of His coming with joy unspeakable, full of glory!

Regardless of what is going on around us, we can rejoice, because for a Christian, joy is not just a response to circumstances, it is your nature.

Gal 5:22 says: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith…”

This verse describes the kind of Spirit we have received at the new birth.
So, you see we have joy in our spirit.

We are a species of people whose joy is not a result of external factors. No it isn’t, it is a result of the spirit we have received.

That’s why the epistles admonish us to rejoice even in not so good situations.

Take a look at what Apostle James said in James 1:2:  “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.”

So even in the face of a trial, we can still have joy, we can still rejoice in God and not blame Him for the things happening around us.

Of course we are discerning; we know what to do in such situations, but we don’t let such steal our joy.

We aren’t the kind that doubt God’s existence when things don’t go as planned. No!

We rejoice in the Lord always (Phil 4:4).

Rom 5:11 says:  “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”

We know what God has done for us in Christ Jesus; He translated us from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

He has adopted us as sons in Christ and given us the Holy Spirit as His seal until He comes to take us home. We have more than enough reason to rejoice.
