“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”
2 Corinthians 13:14
The love of the Father brought about the expression of His grace in His salvation plan for man. The Holy Spirit brings the reality of this love of God and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ to a man, and He does so in three major ways.
First, He convinces man of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The preaching of the Gospel may be done by man but the conviction is done by the Holy Spirit. It is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to convince a man about the testimony of Christ:
“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:” (John 15:26)
Second, the Holy Spirit partners with the believer in living according to the new nature he has now received, which is called sanctification. The prophet Ezekiel prophesied this about the believer:
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27)
God wasn’t going to give the man in Christ just sets of regulations, instead He was going to put the regulator in His heart, which would cause such man to walk in the newness of life. So, it is only through the help of the Holy Spirit a believer can successfully learn to gain mastery over sins and temptations.
Third, the Holy Spirit brings the assurance of salvation into the heart of a believer. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the heart of a man is proof that such man will be resurrected on the last day:
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27)
The Holy Spirit has come to partner with man, if you haven’t received Him, do so now. If you have, learn to acknowledge, appreciate and live out His ministry in your life.
