WE ARE JOINT HEIRS WITH CHRIST

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
Romans 8:17

Paul the Apostle prayed for the Ephesians to know the hope to which they have been called in Christ.

He says there is a glorious inheritance in the saints. He also makes them know that God has demonstrated exceeding great power towards the man in Christ.

How did all this happen? One may ask. Thankfully, Paul in his letter to the church at Ephesus explains further, saying that all this is ‘according to’ (better rendered ‘as a result of’) the resurrection of Christ from the dead.

Long story short, we are direct beneficiaries of the resurrection of Christ from the dead.

In case that’s not clear enough, he goes on to say that by the resurrection of Christ, He sat at the right hand of the throne of God (signifying authority) and that all things were placed under Christ’s feet. But Christ was given to be head over all things to the church!

His authority is for our exploitation. All that He did, He did for us.

Paul says: “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
Ephesians 2:4-6.

Friends, we were raised with Christ. This means that by faith, we are direct beneficiaries of Christ’s work. We are joint heirs.
