“And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;”
One important thing a good Pastor or local church does for a believer is to provide exposure to the accurate explanation of the word of God as well as help set your priorities properly.
The Ethiopian eunuch was sincere when he said “ How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:31
The duty of a Pastor and the platforms he creates are geared towards the furtherance and advancement of the believer’s faith.
Today, we are going to be talking about evangelism and practical reasons why believers don’t evangelize.
Evangelism is the act of reaching out to the lost and unsaved with the message of the gospel. This is one thing that every believer ought to carry out with passion and love.
Unfortunately, many believers don’t evangelize. Many are simply okay with the fact that they’re saved, and are less bothered about the lost and dying while others just seem to be scared of the action that got them saved.
The first reason why it seems believers don’t evangelize is that they’ve not been taught to. This point has to do with the failure of a ministry gift to communicate the necessity and relevance of reaching out to the lost and unsaved.
He hasn’t been taught to see that the eternal destination of a man lies in his acceptance or rejection of the gospel and that the opportunity for a man to believe the gospel is only possible if a fellow man- a believer- preaches to him.
“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
1 Corinthians 9:16
This was the heart of a man that was committed to the preaching of the gospel, he saw the necessity and eternal relevance. We must show the same attitude as Paul. This responsibility is not just for evangelists. It is for all believers.
The second reason why believers don’t evangelize is that they don’t know how to. This also is an offshoot of poor bible teaching. Believers under this category don’t know what the gospel is, or what happens when a man gets saved. Some think morality is salvation, some others are just ignorant (Rom 10:2-3).
Thank God we have been taught and we know how to. Today, make it a point of duty to give expression to evangelism.
SAY THIS: I am not just a hearer of the word. I am a doer of the word. I leave my comfort zone to preach the gospel. I am actively involved in the spread of the gospel today and always.
