“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all”
If you do enough research on the internet, you’d have a fair idea of how the White House looks. You might even know enough to educate the average person who has never been there.
When someone asks a question about the White House, you might even restrain anybody else from speaking because of how enthusiastic you are about the knowledge you have.
But what happens when you’re in such a situation and the US President who actually lives in the White House happens to be there?
You’ll allow him to speak because he definitely knows more about the place than you. Your limited revelation must give way to his higher revelation.
John 1:18 says: “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”
Can you see the correlation here? Our perfect understanding of Christ comes from the higher revelation that Jesus Christ brings.
The word of God proves this beyond a reasonable doubt. Jesus speaking says:
“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
What Moses, Elijah, David and all the other prophets knew about God was good for a time. But now, we look to the Son to know the father. That is why Jesus kept saying: ‘You have heard that it is written…but I say to you…’
The doctrine of Jesus is higher to that of the prophets. It doesn’t mean that the prophets were wrong, it just means their understanding was limited when compared to that of Christ.
Now this is our testimony: “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”
2 Corinthians 4:6
Our knowledge of God comes from the face of Christ! Hallelujah!
