“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy”
Many believers do not understand the implication of the statement: “unto him, that is able to keep you from falling”.
They believe that they are to strive to be kept in the faith and “make heaven”. But the Bible gives us a clear picture of God’s heart on this matter.
Jude 1:24 lets us know that we are to rely on God’s ability to preserve us and His faithfulness to keep us till the end.
God has all power in heaven and on earth and He is as willing as He is able to keep us. He delights in keeping us!
Why would Christ go through all that He did and still not ensure that measures are kept in place to complete what He had begun? That is why in Ephesians 1:13-14 the Bible says:
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory”.
We are sealed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is proof that God will keep us until the end. He is proof that Christ is coming back for us. He is proof that we are citizens of Heaven.
God isn’t just the author of our faith, He is the finisher (Heb. 12:2). He works in us to ensure that we keep on being fervent for Him till the end. As believers, we must trust in God’s willingness and ability to keep us.
When we get to heaven, it will be by His Grace and not by our strength. So we are confident of this very thing – “that he which begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Christ” (Phil 1:6).
