“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”
Stop and think about today’s text. Jesus wasn’t advising us to try to ensure that signs follow us. He assured us, as a statement of fact that they would. The man in Christ can be marked by signs and wonders. All who will walk in the Spirit will see signs.
As a fulfilment of this prophecy, as soon as the Holy Ghost came on the Apostles, their cover was blown! They could no longer hide in the upper room because the attention of a multitude was drawn to them as they spoke in tongues.
The words of Jesus are clear: “You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). He says there’s no hiding place for us. How can there be, when the casting of your mere shadow on the sick leaves them healed? (Acts 5: 15).
The Lord says: “These signs SHALL follow them that believe…” (Mark 16:17). That’s not a prayer point. It’s a promise. Believe it. As you proclaim the message of Christ, in your offices and schools, the Lord will work with you, confirming your words with signs following (Mark 16: 20). Play your part and watch God work with you.
As I preach the gospel, signs follow me. I cast out devils, and I heal the sick, by the power of God at work in me. Amen.
