“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”

(Revelations 4:11).

A wasted life is a life that is not lived for Jesus Christ. It is living to satisfy yourself at the expense of God’s ultimate purpose for your life. Today’s text however, lets us know that we are created for God’s pleasure. A good question at this point is, ‘how can I live for God’s pleasure?’ The answer is not farfetched- Live your life for Jesus.

The Bible tells us that God, according to the good pleasure of His will, has predestinated us to be His adopted children in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:5). You please God when you believe in Jesus, and live for Him. Paul says: “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5: 15).

It is not enough to merely believe that Jesus died for you. You must live for Him. This is why Paul concludes: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). You need to go beyond simply doing your own thing and giving God glory for success. You can directly be involved in the one thing God is concerned about the most- the propagation of His gospel. Make your life count for God.
