“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”

Jude 1:20.

There are many reasons for which praying in tongues is beneficial to every believer. In today’s article, we will discuss a few of them. The first one is obvious in our text. Praying in tongues builds up our spirit man. It is one of the best ways to strengthen your spirit and build yourself up like an edifice.

Another thing praying in tongues does is that it helps us pray according to God’s perfect plan. Human understanding is limited. Often times, you’re not too sure what to pray about because you can’t tell what implications your expected outcome would have. Pray in tongues! If you’re ever in doubt about God’s will concerning a particular matter, pray in tongues. Rom 8: 26, 27 says: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Praying in tongues also helps us give thanks well (1 Cor 14:17). When you think about the unsearchable riches of our inheritance in Christ, aren’t you at a loss for words? Aren’t there times you want to thank God, but you know that human language can’t quantify your thanksgiving? Pray in tongues! Don’t cheat yourself; spend time praying in the Holy Ghost everyday.
