“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me…”
For many people, the definition of Christianity is this: attend church regularly, give generously, be nice to everyone, pray occasionally, trust God every step of the way as you work tirelessly to fulfill your dreams. However, the bible definition much deeper than that.
Let us start with 2 Cor 5:15: “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” There are so many things we can pick from this verse alone.
One is Christianity is not a part of your life… It is your life. You are in Christ, for Christ. You were created to live for God, not God for you.
Whether it is comfortable or not, everything else is secondary to Christ. This text connotes that only those who LIVE for Jesus truly believe that Jesus died for them. You can’t claim to believe that Jesus died for you when all you care about is getting rich, living in a comfortable home, getting married and having children. You can be and have all those things, but pursuing them should be secondary to pursuing Christ. Not just in words, but in actions too.
Dear brother, dear sister, you can no longer live your life, merely seeking your own pleasure. Your life is no longer devoted to promoting your own interest. It is the grand purpose of your life to promote His honour, and to advance His cause.
Faith in the sacrifice of Christ is not meant to end as a mere confession. There must be a response. A HENCEFORTH moment. Where you say, henceforth, I’d live for him. Your live must be devoted to bringing others to the knowledge of Christ.
SAY THIS: I have put my faith in Jesus, therefore I live for Him henceforth! Everything I do is dedicated to honouring Christ!
