“Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death,”
Say, for example, a friend of yours wanted to visit a doctor you knew was a quack, would you let him? If your sister said she was going to eat at a restaurant that sells bad food, would you let her? What if your best friends wanted to send their children to a school with low standards, would you let them?
Then why would you close your eyes when your loved ones attend a faulty spiritual institution? Why should you keep quiet when they keep swallowing the wrong doctrine and you see it destroying their lives? The bible instruction not to judge was not referring to wrong doctrine. We are told to test all spirits and to take heed to sound doctrine. We don’t swallow everything hook, line and sinker simply because it’s coming from a pulpit. Paul said that if any one-even an angel or he himself, came preaching a wrong doctrine, such a person should be accursed. That sounds judgmental, doesn’t it? Your response when you see your loved ones believing the wrong things should be to convince them of the truth, when you do that, the bible says that you have saved them from death.
Another brotherly duty you must also learn to imbibe is to pray for your loved ones. Just like Jesus did for Peter when he knew the devil planned to attack him. Jesus said: “I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren” (Luke 22:31,32).
Your prayer can preserve people. It can be the difference between people standing or falling. You must also learn to pray for the welfare of others. More importantly, you must pray for the salvation of others. Not so that God will save them, it is already God’s will to save them. You must pray for receptive hearts on their parts and boldness on your part as you speak to them. But even more importantly, you must speak to them about Christ.
DO THIS: Since the last time we spoke about evangelism, how many of your loved ones have you spoken to about Christ? Pray for your loved ones who are yet to know Christ then speak to them about Christ.
