“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3: 16).
There are some questions we mentioned in the last article that I’d like you to ask yourself again. What do you think Jesus is like? If you compare the Jesus you’ve been taught about with the Jesus of the bible, will there be any consistency? For instance, what would you have imagined Jesus would do if while He was at a Pharisees’ house, a well known prostitute squatted at his feet, rubbing her hair against His legs and kissing his feet? Perhaps, we would have expected Him to strike her dead on the spot. Luke 7:40-48 lets us know how the Lord reacted in this exact scenario.
“And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged” (Luke 7:40-43).
Have you seen people who want to give their hearts to Christ but feel they have been involved in too much of a mess for God to forgive them? This story is for them! Tell them that the very reason they are avoiding God is even more reason why He is reaching out to them. If He forgives you freely despite all that you have done, you’d love more. That’s what He is after.
The bible says: “And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace” (Luke 7:50). That’s what it’s about friend. It’s about faith.
DO THIS: Tell someone about God’s love for them today.
