“At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God” (John 16:26-27)

What if no one ever taught you about prayer? What if you never knew that you could actually communicate with God? Thankfully you do! But have you taken it for the huge privilege that it is? It’s a privilege to pray. To know that the God of all flesh cares enough to desire to communicate with us for our own benefit is huge.

What will be our excuse for not praying every day? Apart from the needless pains and burdens that will be left unaddressed, more grievous will be the fact that we had access to vibrant fellowship but did not take advantage of it. What can be said about the believer, who is happy and willing to talk anybody but God?

Not being prayerful is symptomatic of self-trust. We often trust our intelligence and exposure too much, and so we won’t spend time praying. Don’t only pray when you’re out of logical options. Build the culture of trust. Again I say, recognize prayer as the privilege that it is.

Not only does God hear, he answers. He doesn’t just empathize He intervenes. A man who truly knows this will pray.
