You are God’s temple

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

Did you know that God doesn’t dwell in a temple made human hands? Perhaps you know it in a sense, but the implications haven’t really dawned on you. If you believe in Jesus, then you are God’s temple. He lives in you. God is spirit and that spirit is on your inside. Halleluyah!

How should the knowledge of this affect you? First of all, it should inspire in you an assurance of salvation. You are not worried that God will cast you away from his presence because he now lives in you and has promised to be with you until the end. This should inspire thanksgiving in you. When you pray, you should thank God for all He did for you in Christ Jesus. Your prayer life should be consistent with the truth of what God has done for you in Christ. You have unhindered access to God because of what Christ has done for you.

The fact that God lives in you also means that his spirit works in you to will and to do of his good pleasure. You can bear fruits consistent with your new nature because the spirit of God is empowering you to do just that on your inside. You don’t have to be afraid that you will fall because the one who began a good work in you is alive in you to perform it until the very end.

You can live above sin because you are God’s temple. Regardless of the habits you may have been struggling with, you can overcome them because you’ve got the spirit of God within you. You must constantly remind yourself of who you are and who you carry.

You can fulfil your ministry because you’re God’s temple. The Holy Ghost now works in you and will do mighty works through you. Your eyes can see, your ears can hear and your hands can do the supernatural because you are God’s temple. You have the Holy Ghost.
