How to have a great year (Part 3)

“And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me”

(Act 20:22,23).

Perhaps you casually glanced through today’s text. Now, I want you to read it carefully again. The spirit of God instructed the Apostle Paul to go to Jerusalem and preach the gospel. He wasn’t too sure about how it would turn out. But he knew two things for sure: that was what the spirit wanted him to do and two, that persecution would be involved.

Imagine if that was God’s instruction for you as you enter the year 2018. Son, daughter, I want you to do this. I won’t give you all the details yet, but I must let you know that you will suffer for my sake. Would you still consider it a great year? You should, because success is not dependent on outcome but obedience.

That is the mind set I want you to have as you begin this New Year. Make up your mind to obey God’s leading. What has God been asking you to do that you’ve been pushing aside? No more. Step up and obey God in this New Year. The interesting thing is  that when you open your heart in obedience, the ability of the spirit is activated in you to do all God will have you do. Never forget that he is the one who works in you to will and do according to his good pleasure.
