“That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”
A common song sang in children churches today says, “Abraham blessings are mine”. But what really is the blessing of Abraham?
Genesis 12 marked the beginning of God’s promises to Abraham. In verse 3, it says: “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
However, when placed side-by-side with Ephesians 1:3, we see that the salvation plan is a fulfillment of these blessings promised to Abraham in Genesis 3.
Finally, Acts 3:25 clears up any doubts one might have as to what the blessing God promised Abraham was. In it, Peter quotes Genesis 12:3 verbatim and explains how the promise made to Abraham was actually the salvation plan through Christ.
Hallelujah! We have the blessings of Abraham, as believers!
