What is the Message of Reconciliation?

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation”

(2 Corinthians 5:19).

In a sense of categorization, there are usually two types of Christian: the ones who are ignorant of the true gospel but go ahead to preach what they believe the Gospel is and the ones who know the truth and say nothing.

While neither of these categories is pleasant, the latter is more disgraceful. If you know what the true Gospel is, please preach it. Make it available to everyone who comes in contact with you physically, or virtually.

However, if you don’t know what the true Gospel of Christ is, today’s article is for you.

First, it’s important to know what the Gospel of Christ is not.

  • The Gospel is not about Morals: it is not about telling people to change their character because that is a result of salvation, not the requirement.
  • The Gospel is not about Money: it is not about telling people that God will change their fiscal reality when they come to Him.
  • The Gospel is not about condemnation: it is not about pointing out how unworthy and dirty people are.
  • The Gospel is not about personal experiences: it is not about sharing stories and experiences of changed character.

This is the Gospel: God fulfilled his plan to accept the death of Jesus as propitiation for our sins and ever since bestowed eternal life on everyone that believes. John 3:16 says  that God so loved that world that He gave us His son and by doing that he has reconciled the world to Himself. He is not counting the sins of those who believe in Jesus’ sacrifice. And anyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

This is what the Gospel is. This is the message that has been given to you.
