“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins…”
Ephesians 2: 1-5 is a long read, but it’s well worth it. It says: “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;).
Once you were dead in sin, now you’re dead to sin. Once upon a time you were led and influenced by the power of the air; the spirit that dwells in the children of disobedience. But that is not your testimony anymore; you are alive to Christ. You need to be conscious of this and to celebrate this always.
Now that you are born again, you can set your affections on things above. Now that you are dead to sin, you no longer have to be a slave to sin. You couldn’t do this before, but now you can toss aside the flesh by the ability of the Holy Ghost.
You need to keep this in your consciousness. “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3).
