“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”

(Hebrews 10:24-25).

When we talk about renewing your mind, one of the best favours you can do yourself is to change your association. The people around you can either tempt you to return to a life of sin or, as today’s text says, provoke you unto good works. If people around you are following Jesus as well, it’d be a great encouragement for you. But if you keep company with the wrong folks, it will affect you negatively. It matters who you roll with!

This is why you must belong and be committed to a Church where spiritual growth is a priority. Today’s text helps us see that the assembly of the saints goes a long way to help you grow spiritually. Paul tells the Church at Galatia, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness…” (Galatians 6:1). The reason why many people backslide is because they are not accountable to anyone.

Jesus told Peter in Luke 22:31-32: “…Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” There are several ‘Peters’ today that can encourage you. Get in their midst.
