“…for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11).

That’s our purpose- to please the Father.

We were created for the pleasure of God. That’s purpose. Purpose is simply the reason for which we were created. It is that one thing that if you failed at, nothing else you succeed at would count. No career can be your ultimate purpose. They can only be platforms for the fulfillment of purpose.

Was Adam’s purpose in life, to be a gardener? No. That’s petty. Adam fulfilled purpose in his fellowship with God. But Adam’s purpose on earth gave rise to an assignment. As a man, he needed to survive and so, he had to tend the garden. Purpose gives rise to assignment. Purpose is not assignment.

What is that pleasure of God for which we are created? The bible says that God chose us in Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, ACCORDING TO THE GOOD PLEASURE OF HIS WILL (Ephesians 1:4-5). As simple as this might sound to you, God’s purpose for your life is that you have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, grow in the knowledge of him, and help others do the same. Whatever else you do, walk in purpose beginning today.
