2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Having discussed prayer exercise and three timely benefits from it, we will look at five ways a believer can be directed in the place of prayer. This will span for the next 5 days. The first we will look at is the direction by the word.

When we pray many times, the scriptures we know, either by reading or teaching are brought to our remembrance, to help guide, lead, encourage or even rebuke us. This is important because God’s word are His thoughts on ink and paper, His will communicated in the written word.

The latter part of 1 Cor 4:6 says “that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is WRITTEN, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. ”

When it comes to supernatural direction, the first thing you must follow is the word. A lot of believers have fallen into error especially when making decisions simply because they neglected the word and went after some ‘spectacular’ encounter. We must give an unquestionable loyalty to the word!

It is irresponsible to seek the Lord over an issue that is explicitly and clearly stated in the word. It is irresponsible to want the Lord to say what is already written. You know I jokingly say if you want to hear the Lord speak audibly, read the bible out loud.

For example, it will be irresponsible and sheer folly for a lady (guys inclusive) to ask if it’s okay to date or marry an unbeliever, to even think about it will be disobedience to the written word.

The bible says in 1 Cor 7:39 that a woman whose husband is dead is free to marry whoever she wills, only in the Lord, thus cancelling any possibility of marrying an unbeliever.

The leading by the word is the chief way God leads His children, every other medium of communication or leading discussed hereafter finds its relevance and precept only in light of the word.

Say This: The word of God is the Father’s will on ink and paper. I obey the word and its instructions. I find direction via the word. Your word is light! Hallelujah!
