“And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
1 Corinthians 15:4 KJV
The resurrection of Jesus from the grave is undoubtedly the most important event in history. The reason for this will be explained across several days.
One noteworthy information is that Jesus wasn’t the first person who was resurrected from the dead, He himself raised people back from the dead; Lazarus and Jairus’ daughter are two examples. (John 11:43-44, Mark 5:41-42) So what makes Jesus’ resurrection special and outstanding?
For a start, Jesus is the first man who rose back to life never to die again. This detail is a very beautiful and powerful detail! God made a statement through the resurrection of Jesus to all men that eternal life and its assurance can only be found in Christ.
“Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” Acts 17:31 KJV.
Hallelujah! Jesus’ resurrection is the assurance all men require. Only a ‘religion’ with a risen saviour can boast and assure men of eternal life.
Just like the death and burial of Jesus was for our benefit, much more is the resurrection of Christ for us. Romans 4:25 says “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” He was raised back to life for our justification.
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,” Ephesians 1:18-20
The resurrection of Jesus from the grave is God demonstrating His power in our lives. This is the Father’s desire, that we may know the implication of the resurrection in our own lives.
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”
Ephesians 2:6 KJV. Hallelujah! The resurrection is the crux of the gospel. This is what we tell the world; Jesus died, was buried, and was raised back to life on the third day that we may be beneficiaries of His work
There’s more to know about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We’ll look at them in the days to come.
Say This: The resurrection of Jesus is my resurrection. I have received justification. Via His resurrection, I have assurance of eternal life. Hallelujah!
