“Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart”
2 Corinthians 3:3
As Jesus rode on a donkey, people sang his praise and said: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord…”.
The Pharisees heard it and asked Jesus to rebuke them. “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out” (Luke 19:40).
John made a similar comment when he said:
“And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham” (Matthew 3:9).
Friends it has happened. God has raised up stones as children of Abraham.
Paul, speaking of many Jews says: “ Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith…” Romans 11:20.
Though John may have pointed to the pebbles on the hills as he spoke, he was referring to the Gentiles. We who were at that time stone-dead in sin, have been made alive in Christ.
The prophecy of Ezekiel has been fulfilled which said: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36: 26).
Apostle Peter also comments on this.
1 Peter 2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
We have been quickened from death. We have received new hearts. The laws of the Lord are written on the fleshy tables of our heart by the Spirit of God. Hallelujah!
I am now a child of God. He bought me with a price. His praise is ever on my lips.
