“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” 1 Peter 1:13
The bible instructs us to be sober as people expecting the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peter says: “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” 1 Peter 1:13.
There should be a seriousness to our lives as people for whom the master will return to reward. Our hope should be reflected in our labour.
How should we labour? We must labour in prayer.
“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” 1 Peter 4:7
As though we are at the final lap of a relay, we must give the Christian walk our best.
Prayer is an educated response to the knowledge about our soon returning King.
Don’t act as if His coming is indefinite. Anticipate it. The bible speaks of grace:
“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” Titus 2:12-13.
There is a way to ‘look’ for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of Jesus Christ. There is a disposition to it. It’s serious business.
