If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
If you’re doing something that is important to you, your emotions will definitely be involved.
Your passion would be obvious. It is only natural that you can barely sit still when your favourite team is playing, and wouldn’t think of falling asleep when you are watching your favourite movie.
If you are an entrepreneur, at least a serious one, you could be working for hours before you realise that time is far gone.
It’s the same with spiritual things. If indeed Christ is the most important person in your life, then your hope in Christ must be backed by passion.
You must be more passionate about the things of God than anything else.
Col 3:1-3 says: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
You should see how passionate some people are about their academics or career. There is nothing wrong with that; but the Kingdom of God must always be our highest priority.
Like Jesus, we must esteem the things of God more than necessary food. Christians are a people of purpose.
We understand that our primary assignment on earth has eternal implications on others, so we give it our best shot all the time.
Get your priorities right. Tailor your emotions aright. Stay mission minded.
Let your words, your actions, your finances all point to your ultimate passion.
