“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
1 Timothy 2:1
One of the best gifts you can give the people you love is to pray for them.
More often than not, you may not know what people are going through or how to help them. But your prayers will go a long way.
This isn’t something to take for granted. You have a duty to pray for friends and members of your family.
When there is an issue with a loved one, don’t just cry, worry or talk about it. Pray!
Don’t also wait until there is an issue before you pray.
Learn from Jesus in Luke 22:31-32: “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.”
That’s the way to go! Jesus loved Simon enough to pray for him.
Don’t doubt that your friends are strengthened when you pray for them.
You’re to recognize that not only does the Bible instruct us to pray for those we love, we are also told to pray for all men.
The most important prayer you can pray for people is that they come to the knowledge of Christ and grow in Him.
Even if you give them all the good things in life, it’s worth nothing if they do not have the knowledge of Christ.
While preaching is an important part of the equation, we must go a step further to consistently pray for them.
