IT’S GRACE OR NOTHING

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law…”
Romans 3:19a

It’s a remarkable show of ignorance for one who isn’t a Jew to insist on the Church keeping the law today. Today’s text clearly spells out the fact that the law was never written to you. Whatever the law says, it says to them under the law.

By the way, the terms of the law provided an opportunity for the Jews to be above every other people group on earth. The Lord said to the Israelites: “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine”
Exodus 19:5

To insist on the law being upheld today is to, therefore, say that you have no right to fellowship with God. Every non-Jew is called a Gentile.

Paul reminds us of our past thus: “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world”
Ephesians 2:11-12

Under the Law, Gentiles had no hope and were without God. For us, it’s not Grace or Law, it is Grace or nothing. Grace is our only chance at fellowship with the Father.

Paul says: “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ”
Ephesians 2:13

Hallelujah! By grace, we’ve been brought into union with the Father.
