“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”
The bible lets us know that the Spirit of God is responsible for helping the believer live a victorious life in this world.
However, we also see that the Holy Ghost is the agent in us that makes us fully assured that we will be with Jesus on the last day.
We flip through the pages of the scriptures and we see that the same Spirit will be responsible for quickening the dead in Christ. So, one Spirit, yet different functions- different outworkings.
The same can be said about the ministry of laying on of hands. The ministry of laying on of hands is one ministry that seems to display several outworkings.
Mark 16:17-18 says
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
This scripture lets us in on the fact that believers will be endued with the ability to lay hands on the sick and cause recovery. This is beautiful!
The Lord Jesus repeatedly healed people by laying hands on them.
Apostle Paul also did the same thing a couple of times. We see an example int he scripture below.
“And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.”
Though Jesus might not have explicitly mentioned that this ministry (the ministry of LAYING ON OF HANDS) has other outworkings, we know it doesn’t end here.
When we study the scriptures, we see that what he said was merely an introduction- an unveiling of this ministry. There’s more to know about this ministry.
Tomorrow we’ll look at the ministry of laying on of hands and its function in commissioning men for the work of the ministry.
