“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.”
Our opening text is a prophecy by the Prophet Joel about the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. He prophesies about a time when ALL- specifically those who have received Christ will have the ability to flow in the things of the spirit.
His prophecy was communicated in a poetic form. His ‘seeming segregation’ of people and the gifts they can express was simply a way of saying that all would be able to flow, with none left out.
The Lord Jesus gave a commission before His ascension. He told His disciples to be witnesses of His resurrection to the world. He also tells them of the power and ability that those who believe would be able to exhibit.
He says “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”
He said these signs were to follow those who believe. That was the only condition.
In Acts 2, all who were in the upper room received the infilling of the Holy Ghost, none was left out. All present spoke with tongues!
Apostle Paul further expatiates this same idea in his letter to those at Galatia. He says in Gal 3:26-28.
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Hallelujah! In Christ, there is no segregation, regardless of geographical location, gender, economic class or social status. This is the day Joel prophesied! We can all flow effortlessly in the things of the Spirit.
Say This: I have believed in the gospel, therefore I can flow in the things of the Spirit. I speak in tongues and interpret, I prophesy, I dream dreams, I see visions! This is for me, This is for all.
