“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord”
It’s pretty surprising when people insist that what makes a person holy is their ability to fulfil the law.
Romans 8:3 says: “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.”
Jesus came to set another law in motion.
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death”
Justification and effortless sanctification are the testimonies of the man in Christ.
Here is a powerful condition to keep the consciousness of who we are; walk in the Spirit (Romans 8:4).
Walking in the spirit is instrumental to living above sin.
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Some believers are worried that they are still in the flesh, but the bible reminds them otherwise:
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”
The Holy Spirit is God’s seal that you belong to him; the guarantee that he is coming back for you.
Just like he did in Ephesians 1, Paul reminds us again of the powerful work of the Holy Spirit on our inside:
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
Here, we see that the primary way the Holy Spirit leads us is to help us put to death the deeds of the flesh.
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”
