“And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said”
2 Samuel 7:25
As a local church, we’ve established that true faith finds expression when we are actively involved in God’s salvation plan in Christ Jesus.
What God cares most about is that all men come to the knowledge of Jesus and cause others to do the same.
The truth remains that not involving yourself in the unfolding and consummation of God’s salvation plan is unbelief.
2 Corinthians 5:15 says: “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
Interestingly, when your life’s goals are consistent with God’s plan in Christ, you enjoy support effortlessly.
Take Abraham for example, see what God told him in Gen 15:5-6:
“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
Abraham was simply interested in following God. It was God himself who chose to bless him.
Your blessing is in following God’s will. See what God told David in 2 Samuel 7:8-11:
“Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth. And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed…The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you:”
God himself had a plan for Israel and chose David to fulfil it. David wholeheartedly submitted to God’s plan. His was beyond a selfish ambition to make his name great.
2 Samuel 7:24-26 shows us the right way to pray for our needs to be supplied. It says:
“And now, Lord God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised, so that your name will be great forever. Then people will say, The Lord Almighty is God over Israel!’ And the house of your servant David will be established in your sight.’’
What has God said about you? What assignment has he placed in your hands?
Pursue his will, be more interested in God’s plan. Provision is in His plan.
