“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
2 Peter 3:18
Naturally speaking, growth is a normal characteristic of a living thing; anything that does not grow is considered dead or stunted; we were taught this.
Likewise, from Scriptures, we see that spiritual growth is important; it is something a believer should be interested and vested in.
And just like every positive change or growth, it has to be intentional. Every believer must intentionally want to grow.
So what is the first step for a believer who desires to grow?
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;”
The first step to a healthy spiritual growth for a believer is to be under a seasoned Pastor (ministry gift).
God and the scripture’s structure for the growth of a believer is the provision of a ministry gift.
That has always been His design, God doesn’t want you ‘pastorless’. You might have been praying to know and understand God more and deeper, His answer has always been this structure.
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
So make sure as a believer, you are in line with God, and the Scripture’s design: belong to a local church that is led and fed by a ministry gift.
