“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”
John 3:16

Today’s topic is an important question in the subject of salvation.

That is, while many think that salvation is about what they do, it is first and foremost about the Adam to which we belong.

Adam is the Hebrew word for ‘mankind’. It wasn’t the name of the first man (in fact the first man was never named Adam), it was the name of the entire race.

“Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called THEIR NAME Adam…”
Genesis 5:2

This is why when the first man sinned and died, we all sinned and died.

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned”
Romans 5:12

We were not sinners because we sinned. We sinned because we were sinners.

God sent a second Adam into the world. His name is Jesus. He died for our sins. Sin in its essence is only an issue for people who are not in Him.

Just as the guilt of the sin of the first Adam was passed to us, the righteousness of the second Adam is passed to all that is in him:

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”
Romans 5:17-18

Glory to God. The substitutionary work of Christ has translated us from the first Adam to the second and last Adam; Jesus.
