FELLOWSHIP SATISFIES

“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness”
Psalm 17: 15

Even in the Old Testament, fellowship with God was viewed as something that satisfies.

We see the writers of old referring to their fellowship with God, though limited at that time to something that brought spiritual, emotional, and even physical satisfaction.

The psalms of David reiterates this in several instances.

“How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”
Psalm 36:7-9

David did not even have the kind of access to God that the man in Christ has. Yet see his excitement. How much more you who is a new creature in Christ?

What about Jesus in John Chapter 4. He was so hungry, his disciples went to get him food while he sat at a well, waiting. However, by the time they came back, he was so ‘full’ from preaching to the Samaritan woman that he said:

“But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of”
John 4:32

When he realized that they were confused, he told them in verse 34: “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” Friends, that should be your ‘meat’ too.

Of course, as long as you’re in this body, you will need food. But the things of God should be more satisfying to you than food.
