WE PRAY TO PREPARE

“Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”
Philippians 4:6

The word of God shapes our culture. This is why it matters that we pay attention to the fact that Jesus began his earthly ministry praying and fasting.

It is particularly noteworthy that he: “returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about” (Luke 4:14).

He came back prepared. O how great it would be to imbibe this culture! This is especially important when you’re about to start an assignment for the Lord.

We also must learn to think deeply about the fact that the Lord Jesus took out time to pray. This is God in the flesh we are talking about.

Speaking of Apostle Paul and his company, the Bible says:

“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them”
Acts 13:2

Don’t run off with your ideas. Prepare in the place of prayer.

Our opening text reveals Apostle Paul instructing the church in Philippi. He said to them “…in everything, make your request known unto God.”

Prayer prepares the believer. When we pray, we clear the way before us.

When we pray, we discern trouble and it is averted. When we pray, we embolden and toughen ourselves for the journey ahead.
