“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.”
James 1:22-24

The theme scripture in today’s teaching reveals salient details about what it means to be a doer of the word.

Today, we’ll be discussing along the lines of being a doer of the word. What does it really mean to be a doer of the word?

Verse 23 and 24 of James Chapter 1 reveals to us that a doer of the word is and will be a person who retains in his or her consciousness all that’s been seen in the mirror; the word of God.

For instance, yesterday, we learnt about how to discern and repel the enemy.

Being a doer of the word will demand that you retain all that you’ve learnt in your consciousness.

The active expression of obeying an instruction is made possible when that instruction itself has been retained.

James 1:25 says “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

This shows that retaining the word of God is vital in ensuring that it is done. This is how a believer becomes fruitful.

2 Peter 1:8 says: “For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

You’ve learnt about authority since the beginning of this month.

Have you retained it in your consciousness? Have you revisited it?
I’ll leave you to answer these questions.

Be a doer of the word today!
