“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”
1 Peter 1:8

Although the man in Christ is one who has healing, as well as other charismatic gifts at his disposal, his hope is founded on something deeper. The believer’s hope is reckoned primarily and fundamentally in what God did for us in Christ.

Our hope is also in the fact that we will not live in our earthly bodies forever; we have a steady hope that Christ will return to give us a new body! As 1 Corinthians 15:51 says, ‘…in the twinkling of an eye…we will all be changed’.

The believer should have a ‘regardless’ mindset come what may. An example of this can be seen in the story of the 3 Hebrew men in Daniel 3:16-18.

When faced with the burning fiery furnace if they did not bow to another God, they said to King Nebuchadnezzar:

“…we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Daniel 3:16-18

Their faith in God transcended their experiences. How much more us, who know the grace of God in Christ? Our faith must be founded on deeper things than the miraculous experiences in our lives.

Paul said: ‘For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain’’ in Philippians 1:21 and he meant it. If death came or not, only one thing mattered to him: Christ being glorified.

Hallelujah! Christ is our REAL HOPE!
