“Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.”
Psalms 2:8 (NLT)
Our anchor Scripture tells us clearly that we can have what we say. In this regard, it is the nations- all men. They are for our possession!
Do you know what possession connotes? It is yours! You own it. No one can take it from you. Even if people try to harass you or forcefully snatch it from you, it rightfully belongs to you! Since you know this, the next thing you’d do is to step out and take possession!
Interestingly, this is exactly what the devil does. He harasses us over what rightfully belongs to us, planting evil in the hearts of men and greatly multiplying it. Thus, making us seem outnumbered.
Nonetheless, we are not deterred. The nations are our inheritance and we march on with renewed vigour.
The systems of the world have long been corrupted by the devil’s agenda. Not only does he carefully map out schemes to drag men further into darkness, he also tries to plant schism within the body of Christ.
Understand this, ours is a mission to win the hearts of all men for God. To accomplish this, “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NLT)
Dear believer, this is a friendly reminder of the mandate given to us at creation- ‘Be, fruitful, Multiply, Have Dominion!’ (Genesis 1:28)
In a futuristic sense, that instruction is captured in the book of Revelations this way: “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:10)
We are to (and we will) reign over the earth. We are to influence the world with our new culture. We must shine our light brighter.
Summarily, every step we take must be backed by a good ulterior motive- reaching men for Christ. This motive should shape your thoughts, your conversations, your attitude, and your deeds.
Everywhere you find yourself, influence people for the gospel.
