“I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” – Ezekiel 36:27 NKJV
The way that a TV remote does not wonder how to communicate with the TV, a Christian should not be worried about how to hear from God.
There is someone inside us that connects us to the Father – the Spirit of God. (Ephesians 1:13, Ezekiel 36:26-27)
In 1 Corinthians 2:12, we are told that we have received the Spirit of God that we may know all that God has freely given to us.
The Spirit of God reveals the mind of God to us. This same Spirit helps us know the mind of Christ. Through Him, God leads and reveals things to us.
As a believer in Christ, we have fellowship with the Spirit. And because of this fellowship, we are privy to His leading, however way it comes.
Sometimes, the promptings of the Spirit can come when we are engaged with other activities.
Like Peter, the Spirit within can lead you while fasting and praying (Acts 10:9-11). Like Gideon, the Spirit upon can lead you while going about your daily activities (Judges 6:11). Like Joseph, He can lead you via in a dream (Genesis 39).
Most importantly, we need to learn to be quiet and attentive so that we can hear God clearly. Take distractions out of your way and pay attention.
You can do away with social media and frequent chatting from time to time in order to separate yourself from the usual frenzy of daily life.
Finally, do not put God in a box. If you expect Him to lead you a certain way, you may not hear Him speak to you in other ways.
Activity: Spend time today praying and meditating on biblical texts about God’s leading.
