“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Genesis 50:20 NIV

For some time now, we have been looking at the concept of God’s leading. We will yet continue along those lines.

We’ve established that you will not always hear an audible voice to be led by God. And that’s perfectly okay!

I dare say that there are more intimate and strategic ways that God leads. We looked at one of such ways yesterday- He leads us by our desires.

Today, we will be looking at how God leads us via what is popularly referred to as coincidences.

The dictionary defines coincidences as a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection. However, coincidences with respect to the believer are what I call “THE REVELATION OF JIREH”.

Coincidences in our context refer to the fact that there are some incidences in your life that appear to be incidences totally unplanned, totally random that are yet part of God’s grand scheme for your life.

Our opening scripture speaks volume on this matter.

Joseph had seen in a dream that he would be bowed to. His dream even included his parents paying obeisance to him. (Genesis 37:5-8)

Rather than an easy unfolding of the dream, things began to go bad- by human estimation. His brothers who bowed to him in the dream were the ones who sold him into slavery and such began an ordeal he’d never forget (Genesis 37:28).

He became a servant in Potiphar’s house and eventually landed in prison. In no way did life unfold like the dream (Genesis 39).

This in no way stopped or hindered God’s grand scheme. In fact, it pushed Joseph even further towards it. You know how the story ends. Coincidence by human estimation, divinely orchestrated to work out God’s purpose.

Another salient example that comes to mind is that of our Lord Jesus. The devil thought by killing Jesus, he’d stop God’s plan, little did he know that his killing Jesus was putting into motion an eternal work.

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
1 Corinthians 2:7-8

The devil working through Judas, the chief priest and everyone in between only helped prophecy unfold. It never hindered it! I say again: Coincidence by human estimation, divinely orchestrated to work out God’s purpose.

Dear Believer, the unpleasant situations in your life might only be driving home God’s plan. Don’t be bitter. Stay the course. You will not be hindered!
