“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:2 KJV
If you sit down and study the word of God, you will realise that half of the leadings you seek have already been addressed in the word because God’s primary way of leading us is through His word.
The problem, however, is a lot of us have not aligned our hearts to this word. We want God to lead us in extraordinary ways while we have not settled down to carefully and objectively study the Bible.
Like I mentioned yesterday, I once heard someone say “if you want to hear God’s voice, read your Bible out loud”, especially the words of Jesus (written in red) and the epistles (because they are written to the believer).
When we read the written word of God, our hearts are transformed and we are able to discern God’s will for our lives.
Any heart that is not aligned to the written word will not experience any supernatural leading because that would make God look as if He is encouraging your rebellion.
You need to have that level of consecration in the word that can make God trust you like He trusted Abraham. (Gen 18:17,19)
Even Jesus, our Lord and Savior had honour for the written word. In Luke 24, after He joined those two disciples in a conversation about His death and resurrection, the Bible tells us that He expounded the scriptures unto them. (Luke 24:13-32)
He didn’t reveal Himself to them at the start of the conversation because He wanted them to know Him first in the scriptures before knowing Him physically.
2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”. The written word of God is for you. It is your manual for life.
If you truly want to hear God, start by studying the written word and aligning yourself with it.
This is the principle for discerning God’s plan for your life, you must see it first in the written word. If you miss the written word, you will not be able to discern the supernatural even if it’s around the corner.
Align with the word!
