“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 12:13

The Holy Spirit is the best gift that God has given each one of us after we believed the gospel. It’s a great honour to know that we literally house God by His Spirit. Just wow!

Amazingly, it is the same Spirit we have all been baptized into, not different spirits. It is one and the same.

I’m sure we all know of one or two businesses that have been franchised in our various geographical zones. And you can agree with me that, although the branding of a particular franchise may be the same in terms of colour, physical and ethical structure, there sometimes seem to be something different.

For instance, a franchised food business may have the same recipe and colour in all its functional locations but the chefs can not be the same. In a fundamental sense, that might cause a change in the taste of food.

That is not the case for us, as children of God! The Spirit we have in us is not franchised.

Like our anchor text reads, we have all been made to drink into one Spirit, regardless of our physical outlook, age, locations and status.

Interestingly, this was the same Spirit that dwelt in Jesus during His earthly ministry.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
Acts 10:38

The Spirit caused Him to rise from the grave and made Him, who initially was the only begotten Son to become the first begotten Son of God.

Now, the Spirit has made every one of us fellow begotten sons of the Father. Hallelujah!

It was God’s idea that we would have the same Spirit Christ had. That by this Spirit, all would have access and do all that Jesus said that we would.

“For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
Ephesians 2:18

There may be diversities of gifts, differences of administration and diversities of operations but it is the same Spirit that works in and through us! (1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Ephesians 4:4-6)

This is why we can identify with our brothers and sisters in Christ anywhere in the world. This is why we can stir ourselves up in the Holy Ghost and edify one another. The Spirit in us is one!

Glory to God!
