“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.”
Acts 1:8, AMP

Yesterday, we talked about the integrity of the message we preach. Today, we will be learning how to harness the power of the Holy Spirit within us for the effective communication of our faith.

The Bible records that Jesus always ministered with power (Luke 4:32,36, 5:17, 9:43). The same was often said of Paul and the other Apostles (Acts 4:33, 6:8; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, 4:20; 1 Thessalonians 1:5). This standard is also expected of every believer, and it’s simply because that same Spirit dwells in us (2 Corinthians 4:13).

How do we then walk in power?

First, feed on the word of God. Power works hand in hand with knowledge. If you do not know what you have, you’d be shortchanged. Here are two common paraphrases that also tell us why we need to feed diligently on God’s word: “Study to show yourself approved so you have no need to be ashamed…” (2 Timothy 2:15), and “Be ready to give an answer to every one who questions your faith….” (1 Peter 3:15)

Next, pray fervently. Prayer emboldens you, prayer gives clarity, prayer changes you and changes situations (James 5:16b). When we pray, we give access to God’s power within us to work wonders. Also, we believe that we have what we say, so we pray with great confidence.

Lastly, evangelize to your world.A very vital step in walking in power is by evangelizing. The importance of this cannot be overemphasized. Our anchor text tells us that the direct effect of the Spirit of God which we have received propels us to preach the Gospel to others (Acts 1:8).

It’s interesting to see that you get to walk in the gifts of the spirit even more when you share your faith with others. You should not wait until you see a physical manifestation of power before you step out to preach. Simply put, the gifts become easily expressed as the need arises. See the text below.

“And I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.” (Philemon 1:6, ESV)

Dear believer, you have nothing to fear. You’ve got such great power on your inside, acknowledge it and put it to work to the glory of the Father and for the integrity of His name.

“… thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,”
2 Corinthians 2:14, AMP

SAY THIS: I am anointed. Therefore, I walk perpetually in power. I am God’s fragrance, so I dispense His power everywhere I find myself. With God’s spirit on my inside, I am a dynamite!
