“But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21 AMP

Some movies have made a lot of us think that the devil has a particular look during his operations. For example, they portray him as someone who wears all black and has long horns with black teeth, and so on but this may not be the case in reality.

One thing about the devil is that he prefers to act under cover. He prefers to hide in the grey, rather than show himself in plain sight. He’d rather disguise as an angel of light and as the voice of God than as a liar, thief and murderer.

See how Paul describes him:
“But I am not surprised! Even satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” – 2 Corinthians 11:14 NLT

The devil doesn’t want you to know when he is working. This is why your discernment has to be sharpened as a believer. You have to be able to discern what is true from what is almost true. The devil may be a master of disguise but you are a child of the Father of lights!

One way to discern the devil’s activity is to build your spiritual conviction. The devil’s foremost mission is not to take your money or make you sick; it is to pervert your knowledge and your idea of church. He knows that once your knowledge is perverted, then he can easily come into other areas of your life.

To build your spiritual conviction is to test all things and hold on to what is good according to the word of God. This is where a daily spiritual devotion comes in.

Study the word and pray everyday. As you do so, your knowledge of Christ is increased and no devil can deceive you with any lies.
