“For we are the circumcision, the ones who serve by the Spirit of God, boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence in the flesh…”
Philippians 3:3 HCSB

Yesterday, we took a look at our worship by the Spirit of God. Today we’ll continue with a powerful follow-up – our boast in Christ Jesus.

By our faith in God, we have received grace and have become the people of God. It is not a result of our own effort, it is God’s gift (Ephesians 2:9). This message is at the core of our salvation. It also dictates the way we live our everyday lives.

Several times in the epistles, Paul distinguishes between boasting in self and boasting in God. His conclusion was always that there is no boasting in ourselves or our own efforts. Instead, our boast is in Christ.

“As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died”.
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Every believer should have confidence in all that God has done for him/her in Christ. It is a consciousness to have. It is the right response to all God has said about you (Hebrews 13:5-6). This means that you will go through situations with an “advantaged mentality”.

Think about how much the Jews boasted in their circumcision. David could challenge Goliath and even looked down on him because he was uncircumcised. Just look at the bold statement he made in the name of the Lord:

“Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel!”
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17:46‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How much more you? Christ is your circumcision! You are now a part of God’s family – His chosen people (Ephesians 2:13,19)

Don’t live your life as if you don’t have God on your inside. There is a difference between you and unbelievers, you cannot be anxious and fearful as they are (Luke 12:29-30). Sometimes, they are even more confident in their sources of power than believers. This should not be the case for you.

Remember, you have the power of God at work in you (Ephesians 3:20, 1 Thessalonians 2:13). You are separated unto God (1 Peter 2:9-10). You are a child of God (John 1:12). You have overcome the world.

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Are you born of God? Then you have overcome the world. Rejoice!

Friends, you must learn to take the word of God seriously. Live your life believing all that God has said to be true about you. When you read your Bible and discover all that has been said in Christ Jesus concerning you, what is your response? Rejoice! Boast!

Say this: I have a supernatural advantage. I excel by the Spirit of God. It is impossible for me to be disadvantaged. I have confidence in the word of God. I do not fear because I put my trust in God.
