“Then I was beside Him, as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight; Rejoicing before Him always, Rejoicing in the world, His inhabited earth, And having my delight in the sons of men.”
Proverbs 8:30‭-‬31 AMP

Many of us have a jaded view of Christianity. We mostly think it’s a killjoy. But this is not the case. Being Christian should be an automatic joy ride.

Did you know Jesus was not a killjoy? He laughed, played, and had a sense of humour. Yes, He did! (Luke 5:27-30, 14:1, 19,11:37-39)

Think of the party at Cana. He didn’t say “No! No! How dare you ask me to turn water into wine? Take water instead, it’s good for your body.” No, he turned the water into wine and the merriment continued.

Think about the metaphors for salvation. Joy and laughter is one of them. Let’s see a number of texts that support this claim:

“This [day in which God has saved me] is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalms 118:24 AMP

“We are writing these things to you so that our joy [in seeing you included] may be made complete [by having you share in the joy of salvation].” -1 John 1:4 AMP

“Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy.” – Zephaniah 3:17 HCSB

“You will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation…” – Isaiah 12:3 HCSB

And this is just a few of such texts. But can you see that joy is synonymous with Christianity? In fact, Christians ought to be the happiest people on earth. We have moved from death to life! We get to live forever with God! How cool is that?

So are you wondering today if you made the right choice by following Christ? Jettison that thought and smile for Jesus. In fact, rejoice right now!
