“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
Philippians 4:4 NKJV
As long as we are in this world, austere times will surely abound. Therefore, we need to realize that joy is not for keeping us out of trouble or seeing us through terrible times but to build a fortitude in us.
See what the Bible has to say about this: (Romans 5:3-5, James 1:2-4)
“…We…glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Romans 5:3-5 NKJV
Also, James 1:2-4 NKJV says, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
Knowing this, we ought to go through trials with joy, knowing that our endurance and character will grow. Remember, the goal is not to remain in an endless cycle of unfavourable circumstances. The goal is to stay joyful regardless.
Apart from that, we can also put structures in place to ensure a constant atmosphere of joy. Indeed, there’s an advantage to doing things at the right time. But how do we go about this? We will examine that tomorrow.
But for today, settle it in your heart that you can always stay joyful regardless of circumstances. Shalom.
