“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Psalm 37:4 KJV

Answer this question sincerely: “What makes you happy?”

For a number of people, it is the material things of life. In fact, you’d agree that even the least materialistic person gets excited when he gets a new pair of shoes or a new phone or vehicle.

However, it is petty to base your joy on those things. Life teaches you that they go out of vogue before you even have the chance to enjoy them. So why don’t you focus on the more important things?

Even the most selfish people have given up material things because of love. Thank God that humans generally, have a much longer life span than most material things. Nevertheless, life is still so short.

As a young person, you might think your parents get on your nerves, but it’s only a matter of time before you, one day, look at your white-haired parents and pray that they get to spend more years with you. This shows you that relationships are important.

Yet, the foundation of your joy is still faulty if it is built on relationships. How much time would we have with our loved ones? Ten decades at best? Eventually, they either leave you or you leave them.

Thankfully, God has an offer for us that we cannot refuse – in Christ, you get to live forever! What a joy to know this to be true!

Some people may not know this but Jesus states this clearly: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die” (John 11:25).

Indeed, Jesus is the truest and genuine source of joy. Every other thing that makes you happy will pass away, but in Him you will live forever! Why don’t you rejoice because of this? Glory to God!
