“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you.”
Isaiah 60:1 HCSB
Welcome to Bible Reading Plan Recap – that time we do a quick summary of what we read in the Bible this week. It’s the 36th week of our daily Bible reading plan.
This week, we read from Luke 22:1-53, Hebrews 4-7, Proverbs 21-23, and Isaiah 16-30.
In Proverbs 21-23, we read several wise sayings concerning being diligent in one’s work, amongst other things. Some texts are worthy of note:
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” – Proverbs 21:5 NKJV
“There is desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it.” – Proverbs 21:20 NKJV
From Isaiah 16-30, we see the various proclamations and signs against Moab, Syria and Israel, Ethiopia, Egypt, and so on. The fall of Babylon was predicted, and Israel was warned not to trust Egypt for help when trouble comes.
In Luke 22:1-53, we read about the plot to kill Jesus, the Passover Feast (also known as the Last Supper) He had with the disciples, the prediction of Peter’s denial, the prayer at Gethsemane, and the arrest of Jesus.
Finally, our reading from Hebrews 4-7 showed us that true rest from works is found only in Christ Jesus. Also, the role of Jesus as our High Priest is explained, alongside with how Melchizedek foreshadowed Him (that is, Jesus Christ).
And that’s all we read in our Bible reading plan this week, family. Have a beautiful weekend, praying and studying the Bible.
